The Forest Hills Northern Huskies jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the 1st inning, then never looked back as they bombarded Belding High School 17-6 in conference play Thursday.
Northern pounded out 19 hits in the contest. Highlights from the 10 run outburst included singles by Manny Campbell (junior), Nick Handeland (senior), Nate Krikke (senior), Ryan Merring (junior), and Jared Mahoney (senior).
Northern continued the onslaught with 3 more runs in the top of the 2nd. Krikke started things off with a single to center, followed by singles by Merring, Nick Zeitter (senior), and Mahoney.
Belding chipped away by scoring 1 in the 2nd, 2 in the 3rd, and 2 more in the 5th, but the Huskies answered with 3 more runs in the top of the 6th to nail the victory.
Nick Wassenaar (junior) led off the 6th with a double to left, then scored on a single by Cam Wysocki (senior). Mahoney then singled to right to score a run. Tommy Killeen then singled to left to end the hit parade.
Ryan Wysocki was the starting pitcher for Northern, and picked up the win. Manny Campbell came on in relief for the Huskies.
Mahoney led the way for the Huskies with 3 hits and 5 RBIs. Campbell, Krikke, Merring, and Wassenaar added 2 hits apiece.
Northern (20-6) travels to Northview on Friday in a non conference contest.
